The Michaelianger extends to the west to Echardinger Straße, where the baroque church of Saint Michael is located, a landmark of Berg am Laim, and to the east to St.-Veit-Straße. In the central area, the park merges into green strips that lead south to Ostpark and north to Kreillerstraße. In the future, the Hachinger Bach, which continues underground on Kampenwandstraße, will be brought to the surface along this axis and exposed along with a pond. That would be a significant improvement in the area that is currently lying fallow.
In the central area of the Michaelianger, which is partially captured by the webcam, there is a children's playground with a water pump, an open-air sports facility with various exercise equipment and the kindergarten on Rahel-Straus-Weg. In the viewing direction of the webcam, there is the Michael high school on Langkofelstraße on the left and a sledding hill on the Michaeliburgstraße on the right. In between are the sports facilities of the soccer club “FC Phönix Munich”, whose first team plays in the district league.
The vastness of the Michaelianger offers good opportunities for relaxation and recreation and is popular with walkers, cyclists and recreational athletes. The park is easily reachable by public transport, namely with the subway lines U2 “Josephsburg” and U5 “Michaelibad”, as well as with tram line 21 “St.-Veit-Straße”. …less
